Course Objective

The emergence of digital means of communication and representation is transforming the way human beings assimilate and engage with knowledge. A similar radical moment was the emergence of print. The course will look at the history of print, authorship, the book distribution, copyright, censorship. It will study forms of digital representation of art, intellectual property in the digital domain, creative commons, networked art. The course will pay special attention to the question – Is the book dying?
